Hyalgan is used to assist patients with osteoarthritis by supporting and lubricating the joint upon injection. This treatment is suitable for osteoarthritis patients who have not responded to painkillers or other treatments, such as exercise and physical therapy. While its effects are temporary, they have been found to last for up to 6 months
